Legooners Bike Safety

The Legooners wanted to make this video because we want to tell kids around the world (our community) how important bike safety is and how they can do it on their own. Some parents might not teach their children bike safety, but kids can show their parents our video and hopefully they will change their mind about being safe on a bike. This video shows how to do a bike safety check, how to correctly fit a helmet and how to do hand signals before turning a corner. We think that is a good thing for kids to learn at a young age. If the kids really understand it maybe they will even teach others about this important thing! We thought it would be cool if we had a polar bear as our safety instructor. We had him popping in and out of a scene explaining the safety information. We also put some comedy in our movie. An example is when our character's arm falls of because Lego people can’t do right turn hand signals.

How we did it

To make a stop motion movie, you need inanimate objects to film. Lego's and clay are the most common. You also need a camera to shoot your film (we used a Cannon Power Shot which is good). You have to have a computer for holding all of your pictures and a software program to put the pictures together (iMovie is a good program). After that, you must take pictures of the item you want to use for the stop motion and put them on your computer. Then you put the pictures together on the computer, add voice-overs and edit the pictures.

A stop action video is done mainly by one person, two at the max. It is hard to make a stop action movie with six people so I was skeptic but we pulled it off and I was impressed at the finished product.

Mary and Nicole wrote the lines for the stop action video. We also came up with the name for the cat “Sparky” we both think that was a fun name for a cat. The boys took the pictures, did the voiceovers, the editing and put some sound in there to fill up the silent space. We all had fun with the production of the video.
